Göricke was one of a myriad of German motorcycle producers. They started to build bicycles, sewing machines, milking machines and milk centrifuges in 1874. In 1905 they designed a large motorcycle making them one of the oldest industrial enterprises in Europe. Initially, they mixed it up with the very best, even claiming the very first world speed record in 1909 with a bike powered by one of their own engines. Unfortunately no information exits about this bike, even though it truly was a milestone and put the company `on the map´.
During WW-1 they were engaged in defense work and re-started producing motorcycles in 1920. In late 1924 they bought the defunct Fabula Company (see the essay on this quasi unknown make) and continued to build a slightly modified version of this great motor cycle for about 2 years. The incredible thing is, they continued building larger motor cycles, but dropped the advanced Fabula design and reverted back to almost beforeWW-1 with some ancient-age stuff, such as the M-1 which looked as if it belonged in a museum – even when new! It had an ancient-age front suspension if such it can be called at all, a tiny tank necessitating constant stops at gas stations, an engine whose origins I have been unable to pinpoint, it had a separate transmission like the old-timers -- it was an absolute throwback to the very beginnings of the motor cycle and ignored every conceptual advance made, particularly the ones embodied in the Fabula; incredible stupidity and blindness.

They continued despite the horrid economic climate during the Weimar Republic (which almost claimed them in 1930) until the advent of WW-2 when again, they were engaged in defense work. The bikes they produced in the 1930´s were forgettable daily-usage machines. Their bread and butter at this point in time was the production of bicycles, a field in which the beautiful city of Bielefeld was world-leading what with companies such as Anker, Bastert and a myriad of others  building extraordinary examples of this seemingly simple form of transportation.
Whatever was left standing after the horrendous air raid in Sept.1944 was largely plundered and left useless by the rapacious allies until 1948, when tentative beginnings of a re-emergence were noticeable. Initially Göricke produced a myriad of small motor cycles and mopeds which were surprisingly successful considering their boring character, their lack of imagination, but in 1953 they brought a lovely machine to market, the Gö-175, a beautiful motorbike competitive with the likes of the Mars Stella or the Hercules 175, in short a top-drawer bike. This was to be the high point of Göricke full-size motor cycle production, for where they excelled henceforth was in the Moped segment of the market. The Gö-175 was built until 1959 with moderate success, not bad at all considering they were fighting for market shares in a class which teemed with extraordinary machines by frequently better financed companies.

At about the same time, they build a super-heavy-duty bicycle powered by the Fichtel & Sachs 48-cc engine, covered chain, smaller front wheel to accommodate a large basket for the delivery of goods, the whole thing being equipped with over-sized balloon tires. This utility vehicle sold very well in 1955 and onward. In 1956, the appearance of the `Diva´ was a smash hit. This Moped featured a combination press-steel-tube frame with the engine being suspended rather than sitting inside the frame. Front suspension was handled by highly effective swing-arm, as was the rear. Every up-to-date technical trick had been incorporated in the design. The little gem came in a large variety of colors, usually a three-color scheme being standard.
In order to attract the ladies, a different version of the Diva, the Regina was brought to market with a frame design which made it easy for a lady wearing a skirt (incredibly German women wore skirts in those days, almost unheard of in todays blue-jeans-we-all-look-alike-just-like-sheep sub-culture). This bike had the desired effect and was well liked by the ladies. Why Göricke management decided to install a wholly different front-suspension system in the Regina is difficult to fathom but one assumes there was a very good reason. It was in late 1959 that they came out with a real little rocket, the model called `Kleinkraftrad Supersport Model 367´; This was a thoroughly modern small motor cycle beautiful body-styling, perfect balance, 4.3 hp Ilo 48-cc sport engine, exhaust pipe pulled high up to enable hard cornering – this was a bike which made the heart of every young man beat faster.
One attempt to produce a larger bike was made when they showed the prototype of the Göricke Z/2-250, powered by the ubiquitous Ilo 250-cc Twin. With this bike, Göricke managed to build a lovely machine, not at all heavy looking, but lithe and beautiful, even though the Jurisch rear suspension was not up-to-date (even if highly effective); they did not use a swing arm suspension, even though they had an excellent one with their 175-cc machine indicating that the `old´ Jurisch system was working just fine up to the standards of the day. Disgracefully only 5 prototypes were ever built; it was deemed not feasible to enter this market segment, what with the outstanding Hercules `322´, Express `255´, Adler SB-250 twin, DKW RT-250, the fabulous NSU Supermax and a myriad of other outstanding bikes  having a lock on this particular market segment.
Even the moped market dried up, being taken over by Japanese models sold at fire-sale prices, a practice the parasite-nation is well known for, demolishing the industries of every nation which has been stupid enough to follow the globalization and We-are-all-Equal swan song religiously promoted by the arrogant democ-Rats who cannot stand to see anyone being independent, especially not us Germans for an independent Germany shows them all up for the mediocrities they are.
Göricke continued building bicycles until 1983, when they finally pulled the plug not being able to compete with Asian imports which were subsidized by their various governments, whereas the german government stood idly by letting their once magnificent industry being eaten alive by the voracious parasites --- all in the name of globalization, equality, and all that relentlessly promoted (by the Anglo-American orbit) Western Civilization destroying rot.
In the meantime the remnants of Göricke merged with the remnants of Panther and are producing top flight bicycles again, including models with in-the-hub- generators, halogen lamps and all the tricks of the trade. When attempting to contact present-day Göricke regarding historical things, one is met by silence. This is strange because the only thing I mentioned was that Göricke was the very first motor cycle company in the world to establish a World Speed Record and why they did not mention this on their web site. There is something truly sick in refusing to recognize the greatness of ones ancestors; being politically correct means being a coward and, as Emmanuel Kant stated so succinctly: `All cowards are liars´.
